AARON MARCELLUS as The Kid
Aaron Marcellus was born and bred in Atlanta, GA and has been entertaining crowds across the world for 16 plus years. A singer, writer, musician, tap dancer, and an actor, Marcellus is a consummate entertainer with a signature sound. He’s shared the stage with Gospel and CCM greats like: Israel Haughton, Salvador, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, Kim Burrell, TobyMac, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Anointed, Ted & Sheri, Rachel Lampa, and Karen Clark-Sheard. In 2004 Marcellus ventured into Pop/Soul, taking a bold step to break into this new genre by auditioning for the world-renowned talent competition, American Idol. During Season 11 he rose to semi-finalist status (top 24) on American Idol, garnering a standing ovation during his televised performance in Hollywood. In the summer of 2012 Marcellus was a featured artist on the “Idols World Tour” sponsored by the US Armed Forces for American troops and was also one of the select Idol contestants featured on a tour through England, Italy, Holland, Germany, France, Korea, and Japan. Marcellus has been featured in a new pilot show for NBC, in a Chapstick commercial and at a tribute performance for R&B recording artist, Chrisette Michele. Marcellus can be found hosting a weekly musical act at NYC’s Duane Park and singing all over New York City– directing showcases, tap dancing, acting, serving as a vocal coach and directing The Marcellus Music Ensemble, a new and powerful collection of voices that help to comprise the Marcellus Orchestra!
LENESHA RANDOLPH as Mother
Lenesha “SISTER” Randolph, commonly known as Lenesha is an undeniable American Powerhouse R&B/soul singer, and songwriter. She first came to attention with the multi-talented Grammy award winner Lauryn Hill.
Lenesha’s 16 year journey is reflected in the depth she brings with astonishing spot-on lyrics .The way her infectious tone wraps itself around your heart and won’t let go, is what keeps her on top of the list.
Her resume is pretty impressive too: touring, recording, and music making with Lauryn hill, Patti Labelle, Lady Gaga, John Legend, Carlos Santana , Patti LeBelle , Lady Gaga , Tweet , Faith Evans , p diddy , and many other top artists.
She’s also female lead vocalist in Grammy and Emmy award winning band Robert and the family band , where her brother is front man and pedal steel guitar legend Robert Randolph.
NICK RASHAD BURROUGHS as Morris Day
Nick Rashad Burroughs (Morris Day) is currently in the original broadway cast of Tina the Tina Turner Musical . He has also been seen on Broadway in Kinky Boots, King Kong Alive on Broadway and the 1st National Tour of Something Rotten. He also recorded the single “Ordinary Day” in Todrick Halls #1 pop album “Forbidden”. Nick received a Broadway World Award for his portrayal of Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar. Other Favorite credits include James Brown in James Brown Live at the Apollo Music Cafe, Shrek the Musical (Donkey), Ragtime (Coalhouse), and Company (Robert).
CHEVONNE RICCI as Apollonia
Chevonne Ricci is beyond stoked to be playing the iconic Apollonia in this compelling and innovative production! Other notable performances include live background vocals on Estelle’s Shine album promo tour, live background vocals on Lady Gaga’s MonsterBall world arena tour and HBO special, and a three-episode run on Season 3 of NBC’s The Voice. Chevonne also co-fronts rock band The Fuzz (@thefuzznj) with her husband and teaches voice and piano to students of all ages. Follow her adventures at @chevonnestagram!
VANJAH ALEXANDER – Music Supervisor/Vocalist
Vanjah Alexander is a born and raised New Yorker. He started his musical journey with the Boys Choir of Harlem. Vanjah studied at the Ohio State University. He was on the First National Broadway Tour of The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. DERRICK DAVIS as The Phantom of the Opera
Derrick Davis most recently starred as The Phantom in the 25th Anniversary North American Tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. In his exciting career, Derrick has starred as Mufasa in the US Tour of Disney’s THE LION KING, covered both Scar and Mufasa on Broadway in THE LION KING, covered Billy Bigelow on Broadway in CAROUSEL, starred as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Douglas Tappin’s new work I DREAM and starred as Curtis Taylor Jr. in DREAMGIRLS at the Tony award winning Dallas Theater Center. He has been seen on the Daytime Emmy Awards, Live with Regis and Kelly, Dancing With the Stars, as well as on the big screen in such movies as Can a Song Save Your Life and A Christmas Story. Davis played the role of Derek with Rufus Sewell and Katie Holmes in ABC’s DANGEROUS LIAISONS by Richard LaGravenese and can be seen in the Hallmark channel’s 2020 holiday season along with Laura Osnes, Aaron Tveit, and Victoria Clark in A ROYAL HOLIDAY by Julie Sherman Wolfe.Derrick’s concert career has taken him Internationally to Scotland, Wales, England, Italy, South Korea, Canada and back home to the United States. These shows includes sold out performances of Rogers and Hammerstein works with the Las Vegas Philharmonic. Mr. Davis is a member of Actors Equity Association, The Screen Actors Guild and The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. He cherishes a degree with honors in Voice from LIU C.W. Post Campus and is proud to be a virtual faculty member at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music at Cincinnati University.
ALI EWOLDT as Christine Daaé
Ali Ewoldt has appeared as Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway (30th Anniversary Cast), Cosette in Les Miserables (Broadway, National Tour), The King and I (Broadway, Tour, Lyric Opera of Chicago), Maria in West Side Story (National Tour, International Tour, PCLO, The Muny, MTWichita) and Luisa in The Fantasticks (Off-Broadway). Regionally, she has played Philia in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (The Muny), Fan/Mrs. Bonds in A Christmas Carol (McCarter Theatre), Martha Jefferson in 1776 (The Muny) and Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls (Sacramento Music Circus). Ali’s concert/symphony work includes: Feinstein's/54 Below, Alice Tully Hall, The Town Hall, Canyon Ranch, NY Pops at Carnegie Hall, American Pops Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Kaohsiung Symphony and The Boston Pops with Maestro Keith Lockhart. Her TV/Film credits include The Michael J. Fox Show, Yield, and the short films Mia and The Cactus. Ali has a BA in psychology from Yale University and is a proud Filipina-American. @aliewoldt
